CURRENT VACANCIES

New vacancies will be updated on this page when they go live towards the end of August.

We’re looking for enthusiastic team members to be a part of our story this Christmas! Could you be a part of the team?

We know that Christmas is a magical time for families across the UK – our mission is to make their experience in store reflect that feeling. Our staff work every day to ensure that customers walk out of our stores feeling happier and more festive than when they arrived.

What is it like working at Magical Story?

Magical Story is an independent business, with just a few locations across the UK. Our teams have a great deal of autonomy when it comes to the “look and feel” of their store – and we want all staff members to contribute to that look.  A typical day working in store will include:

  • Spending time on the door, greeting customers and offering them support as they browse our exciting collections.
  • Working at the counter – taking payments, answering queries and gift-wrapping customer orders for that special someone back home.
  • Working on the floor, re-stocking and re-merchandising areas as needed and ensuring our shelves always reflect the magic of Christmas.
  • Working in our stock room, unpacking, pricing and processing deliveries.
  • For Supervisors – joining calls with the national Magical Story team to report on store performance, ask questions and find out the latest initiatives across the business.

We aim to give staff members a variety of duties throughout the day – running throughout the entire job spec is our number one priority: to make customers feel welcome, happy and ultimately that they want to return with their friends & family!

Typical Shift Patterns

Most staff will work on a 6-hour shift pattern – exact times will vary depending on the opening hours of the site in question. Contracts from 6 hours per week to 30 hours per week are available in most stores. Most days will include a 15 minute set-up and close down period at either end of the trading day.

Some stores will offer limited full-time contracts, or 40 hour per week positions. These shifts are typically 9 hours, with a 30 minute lunch break.

How long is the contract for?

Most of our contracts are a fixed-term positions, the exact length of which will be site dependent, but some are rolling full-term contract for our permanent sites.

Positions are ideal for students or those looking for a short-term contract over the Festive Period.

What our current & former team members have to say:

“Working at Magical Story was a delight. There was a lot to pick up at first, but management was helpful and understanding. For such a dynamic environment they provided the chance to settle into the role. The selection of supervisors was brilliant, and I feel they picked the best people for the job from our team. My work felt rewarding, and that was reflected by management, creating one of the most fulfilling work environments I've had.”

“It was refreshing to work with a team and area manager who trusts and could be trusted. The company ensured you were heard and looked after, despite it being open for a short amount of time.”

“Lovely staff, fun place to work (especially at Christmas time as it is very busy and demanding) and every day is different.”
